Here turkey, turkey...

Well, it's spring again and that means spring turkey hunting. I have been out two times so far this year, but no gobblers in range yet. A friend from church, Mitch, has taken me out a couple of times. Our first outing was a complete bust - nothing but mosquitoes. Our second hunt was more promising. We called in a couple of hens and saw 4 toms in a field, but couldn't persuade any of the big boys to come to our calls.
The picture of this jake was taken by my spycam last fall. I have about 30 - 40 turkey in my back yard everyday in the fall and winter, but once spring comes around they all head for greener pastures. I hope to get out a few more times before my season comes to an end. So, we will see what happens.
Another interesting development, speaking of the back yard, is that we now have a den of foxes living under our neighbor's shed. We see them just about everyday from the house. They have two pups that have little fear of us walking by their den. I will try to get a picture.
